Orgy of sunshine

Spring officially arrived in Portland on Saturday. Unfortunately, I spent most of the day indoors at a woodblock printmaking course offered by The ReBuilding Center.  But that night, around 5, when the air was warmish and clear, I went for a walk and felt liberated. Liberated from 2 layers of wool socks, hat hair and the winter laziness that makes me want to nap more than once a day. I was free.

On Sunday, Joe and I walked downtown to soak up the city spirit.  It was an orgy of sunshine.  People were lazing about everywhere. In Pioneer Square folk musicians cooed and hipsters pranced between the windows of department stores full of breezy summer couture.  We strolled along the Esplanade with babies and bishons and big fat men in tank tops.  It was a splendor.  Portland was teeming with smiles and ice cream.  Joe and I even managed to partake in the feast by playing croquet with Ben and Chad at Ladd's circle.

Its possible that the orgy seemed more intense because of the recent downpours.  Last week I toured the Tryon Life Community Farm where I played in the mud for close to 4 hours. It rained and rained.

Despite my excitement over the changing seasons, however, I will admit that I enjoy the rain and the cold. It gives me a good excuse to stay inside and eat.  But I enjoy eating outside as well, and I have a feeling that will be happening a lot in the weeks to come.

i'm confused on whether you meant to say you, joe, chad, and ben played croquet at the park, or if you've just started referring to the process of crocheting as "playing crochet." either way, you win.

haha! we played croquet. but now that you mention it, playing crochet sounds equally fun.
